Susan Wiebe

December 1, 1928 - May 27, 2014

Tribute

She was born Dec. 1, 1928, in Blumenort, SK, the daughter of Helena and Johann Peters. She was married to William “Bill” Wiebe on March 9, 1953 in Calgary, AB.

Susan began her work life early as a teenager to help support her siblings after the death of her parents, keeping the family together. Susan worked for many years as a nurses aide in long term care facilities and assisted with the farm when she and Bill started their homestead in Peace River. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener and a skilled baker.

Susan's giving spirit led her to volunteer in her community, and she became an active member of the Okanagan Gleaners when she moved to Oliver after she was widowed. Susan was also a member of the Oliver Alliance Church, and also involved in volunteer activities there.

She is survived by Nadine Miller, the widow of Susan's deceased son, Lloyd. Nadine resides in Knoxville, Tennessee.

Susan was preceded in death by her husband, William; son, Frederick Lloyd; and her three siblings: Elizabeth, Helen, and Pete Peters.

Memorial gifts may be made to the Okanagan Gleaners, 507 No. 3 Road, Oliver, BC V0H 1T1 or Project Hannah, PO Box 8700, Cary, NC 27512.

Burial will be held at 1:00 pm, Wednesday June 4, 2014 at the Oliver Municipal Cemetery.

Relation: Relationship - How did you know the deceased?

This is a message for Nadine. I hope your trip home was not too difficult and that you will know that people cared about your mother in law very much. The support was evident at the graveside service. Blessings to you dear in the days and years ahead and just know that you were there to say goodbye and meet people she knew. Betty-Jo Hetherington
