William (Bill) Ross
July 14, 1943 - May 10, 2020
Tribute
It is with extreme sadness that we announce the sudden passing of William (Bill) Ross.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Francie; his children Stean, Stacie (Courtenay) and Scott (Mariana); four grandchildren Seneca, Quinn, Reed and Alexa (Bogdan) as well as great-granddaughter Ilinca.
Bill was a long-time resident of Oliver, BC where he was such an active member of the community. He was always eager to lend a helping hand and loved his countless connections with people. He could make new friends in any environment.
In their retirement, Bill and Francie enjoyed travel abroad and to the USA where his son Stean and granddaughter Seneca live. One of Bill’s favourite places to travel was Portugal where his other son Scott lives.
Even in his 76th year, Bill could never stop working. He loved having his finger on the pulse of the community, working and consulting with many local businesses.
He lived a happy, beautiful life, was loved and admired by his family and friends. His engaging conversations and flare for life will be deeply missed.
One of Bill’s favourite pastimes was golfing. His long-time membership at Fairview Mountain Golf Club was very special to him as well as all of his friends and the staff there.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Fairview Mountain Golf Club Junior’s Program in memory of Bill Ross.
We hope to have a large celebration for Bill later in the year so his many friends and family can attend. We will send out a notice at a later date.

I’ve known Bill Ross for as long as I’ve known his daughter Stacie. She and I attended dental school together and became lifelong friends. I would join Stacie on her visits up to Oliver on weekends away from university. Bill and Francie welcomed me into their home and I loved them right away. Bill was so generous and funny; his loss has left a vacuum in the lives of the people that knew and loved him. I will forever hear him say “Hi Di!”. His positivity and wise advice will never leave me. My heart is with Bill’s amazing family at this time. I love you all.

Francie and family,
We are so saddened by your tragic loss and have no words to ease your pain. Ernie and I extend our profound sympathies to all.
We will remember Bill as the bright, funny, ambitious, sometimes irreverent, larger than life character that he was. He had such a zest for life taking on many challenges with passion. He contributed to his community both in civic roles but also, as a volunteer. His accomplishments and relationships are too many to count. As has been said, he had his finger on the pulse of the community. But, his greatest passion was his love for Francie and his family. It was clear that he adored you all. You were his “reason to be”. He will be greatly missed.

To Francie and family. We also are so saddened for the loss of a dear friend. Bill was “one of the best!” He was a tireless worker for what he believed in for the betterment of the community and for British Columbia. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
