Nancy Simpson-Smith
March 25, 1956 - January 21, 2020
Tribute
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Nancy Jane Simpson-Smith. Nancy passed away suddenly at home on the morning of Tuesday January 21st from natural causes.
Nancy was the youngest daughter of Robert Simpson and Myrtle Simpson (nee Landon) of Seeley’s Bay, Ontario. She is remembered fondly and survived by her loving partner Steve Campbell, her sons Brendan and Pierce, her brothers Albert (Mary), Brian (Cindy), Burton, Rick (Marilyn), Jim, and her sister Kathy.
Nancy worked as a dental hygienist for many years in Ontario and British Columbia, and more recently as a real estate agent, but her true passion was in connecting with people though her conference and education business CE Solutions.
Nancy loved travelling, often taking her family and friends to far off places like Hawaii, and Europe. She loved to talk and would often spend hours exploring down sideroads in small towns. Nancy fell in love with British Columbia by living in Banff and Victoria as a young adult and lived her dream by eventually living there. She recently moved to Oliver B.C. with Steve where they had begun to build their dream home surrounded by orchards and vineyards.
Information about a celebration of life to follow. Donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada in memorial.

Nancy,
In the 1980’s, when we worked together in Ottawa, it was quite evident back then, that clinical dental hygiene was just not enough for you. Nobody wears the title “Trail Blazer” as you do! You started by branching out as a volunteer for the Ottawa Dental Hygiene Society. As their president, you introduced big changes by relocating our meetings to the Chateau Laurier and incorporated dynamic speakers to spark further interest from the local dental hygiene community.
Then, all by yourself, you started CE Solutions at a time when larger dental hygiene associations monopolized this industry. Nothing scared you! You have inspired so many since then, who have tried to follow in your footsteps. The story does not end there. You wanted more, so you packed up and went west! You hopped from province to province bringing quality dental hygiene education closer to those in our industry who were underserved. But of course, Nancy, you still weren’t done! You went back to the books and got trained as a real estate agent and carved a niche in that industry.
It is with deep gratitude that I write this note to you. As I have mentioned to you so many times before, I have you to thank for introducing me to so many wonderful experiences outside of clinical dental hygiene. You talked me into running the Ottawa Dental Hygiene Society after you, then you invited me to your world of dental hygiene conferences and so much more. The words “Thank you” will never be enough!
Love always,
Sylvie Ranger-Fernandes xoxo

Life fulfillment is measured in many different ways; accomplishments, legacy, longevity, success, influence, depth and breadth of Love are just a few. However Nancy measured fulfillment never was a few towards longevity. This showed in her constant love of the next adventure, in her pride of her family and deep friendships with those who were willing to live the same way. She loved to share your ideas as much as she freely shared her own perspectives with ease and openness, allowing herself and others to explore this wonderful thing called life.
Thank you little sister for your love and your joy while we shared our time on this earth. Say hello to mom and dad and tell them we all look forward to sharing the next adventure with you all.

I was shocked to read about Nancy’s passing. I remember her from our much younger days in Seeleys Bay and then found each other again through social media. She was always such a lovely and vibrant person. Our condolences go out to her partner, sons, brothers, sister, nieces, nephews and friends. Such a loss!

Nancy, we first met in a Dental office in 1985 In Toronto. We were friends right away ! You were fun, carefree, full of life and free spirit. You encouraged me to go back to school and pursue my dream. We both ended up in BC and went through life together. I will miss our adventures together, our walks at the Beach and our talks over coffee or wine. You were a shining star in everything you took in in life. You lived and loved to the fullest. I am so glad you found your happiness and you were so proud of the wonderful men you raised !! I will miss you so much, my dear friend xoxoxoxo
